Find Your Ideal Partner with Jyotish
Enter your date of birth, and the calculator will work out Indian 36-point compatibility (Ashtakoota, the “36 gunas”) with the Moon of every day in the years you choose and show on which days and at which hours the people best suited to you were born.
The calculator goes through every day in the years you choose; this takes less than a second. Don’t know your birth time? Clear the field.
How the calculator finds a match
Ashtakoota compares two people’s Moons on eight factors, the “kootas”: Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi. Together they give up to 36 points: from 18 a union is considered acceptable, from 25 good, and above 32 very good. The calculator works out these points for the Moon of every day in the years you choose and picks the best.
Why your partner’s birth hour matters
The Moon travels about 13° a day, almost a whole nakshatra. If on a given day it moves into another nakshatra or sign, the score differs between morning and evening. So for such days the calculator shows which birth hours make the date a good one.
Mangal Dosha
Besides the 36 points, in India they check for Mangal Dosha: Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. Traditionally it’s good when both partners have the dosha or neither does. The calculator takes this match into account when picking the best dates.
An Honest Look at the Method
Ashtakoota is a tradition with no verifiable evidence behind it. The “ideal” partner here is the best one by its rules. For a specific person, open Kundali Milan with an exact birth time.
