Aquarius
Aquarius is the zodiac sign for people born between January 20 and February 18. Element: air; modality: fixed; ruling planets: Uranus and Saturn. The cusp dates shift by a day from year to year, so if you were born near a cusp, check your sign with the calculator.
Personality
Aquarius is the sign of independence and the common good. Aquarians think in terms of groups and ideas, readily accept people who are different and handle pressure and obligatory rituals poorly.
Strengths: originality, tolerance, friendliness, the ability to see beyond their immediate circle.
Weaknesses: emotional distance and stubbornness. Aquarians withdraw instead of arguing and cling to their convictions as tenaciously as Taurus clings to habits.
The Gemini man and woman
The Aquarius man is friendly but private; his mind gets attached before his feelings do.
The Aquarius woman is independent and unconventional; she sees demands to prove her love as an intrusion.
Career and money
Work with new things and with people suits them: IT, science, social projects, startups, engineering, anything involving communities.
Aquarians are cool toward money: for them it is a means to freedom, not a goal. Financial routine weighs on them.
Compatibility
Traditionally, the easiest matches are signs of the same element and of compatible elements; for Aquarius these are Aries, Gemini, Libra and Sagittarius.
The most challenging are signs in square and in adjacent positions: Taurus, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces. The opposite sign is Leo: strong attraction and an equally strong struggle.
These are general rules of aspects, not a verdict. Each pair is covered separately in zodiac compatibility.
The sign in the birth chart
Your Sun sign is just the position of the Sun at the moment of birth. A full birth chart also includes the sign of the Moon (emotions), the Ascendant (first impression) and the positions of the other planets.
That's why a person may "not seem like an Aries": they have an Aries Sun, a Cancer Moon and a Libra Ascendant, and what comes across is nothing like a Martian manner. Horoscopes in the media work only with the Sun sign, hence the feeling that they aren't about you.
