What the Calculation Shows

• The partner’s best birth dates — the days in the selected years whose chart fits best with yours, and the part of the day when the match is strongest.
• Compatibility percentage — the couple’s overall score on our scale: it is used to rank the days and does not mean a “probability of happiness.”
• What attracts — electromagnetics (a channel that is completed only when you are together), partnership channels such as 59-6 or 49-19, a bridge that connects the separate parts of your chart, and the couple’s overall theme based on the number of defined centers.
• Where there may be friction — compromises: one of you has the whole channel, while the other has only one of its gates and keeps having to adjust.
• The partner’s type and profile on that day, with a note if the type changes depending on the hour of birth.
• Your side — your defined and open centers and channels, so you can see exactly what in you the partner complements.

How it is calculated

First your chart is calculated — the same way as in the main Human Design calculation. Then a chart for noon is calculated for each day in the selected years. Over a day only the Moon (and the Design Moon) moves noticeably, so its position is substituted four times — for the night, morning, afternoon and evening. The other planets barely move in a day.

Each option is overlaid on your chart, as in Human Design compatibility. Electromagnetics and partnership channels score the most points; shared channels and bridges score less. The couple’s theme comes from the number of centers you define together: 7-2, 8-1 and 6-3 are considered more favorable than 9-0, where the couple has no open space left. Compromises subtract points. The day’s total is a blend of the average across the four parts of the day and the best of them, so a day that works for any hour of birth ranks above a day that got lucky with only one Moon position.

If you don’t know your birth time, your chart is calculated for noon: the Moon and sometimes the profile may differ, and with them some of the matches.

An Honest Look at the Method

Human Design is a modern system described by Ra Uru Hu in 1987. Its rules for overlaying two charts are precisely defined, but none of them has been tested as a way to predict how a relationship will turn out. The system itself has no concept of an “ideal partner” and no compatibility scale: the weights and percentages here are our own sorting rule, not Ra’s teaching.

A birth date is not a person. Thousands of people with different upbringings, characters and destinies are born on the same day, and the chart for that day says nothing about which of them will suit you. More about the origins of the system on the Human Design page.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the partner’s type marked as uncertain for some dates?

The type depends on which centers are connected by channels. Sometimes it is the Moon that completes a channel, and the Moon passes through several gates in a day. Then a person born in the morning may turn out to be, say, a Generator, and one born in the evening a Projector.

Can I do this without my own birth time?

Yes: clear the time field, and your chart will be calculated for noon. Most channels and the type usually stay the same, but matches through the Moon and the lines may differ.

Does a low percentage mean the relationship won’t work out?

No. The percentage only shows how many attracting connections and how many compromises the overlay of the two charts produces by the system’s rules. In Human Design any couple is considered possible, and friction is described as something worth negotiating.
