6/3 Profile: Role Model/Martyr

The 6/3 profile is a conscious Role Model and an unconscious Martyr: the three stages of the sixth line and experience through trial and error right to the end. A rare profile, found in about 2% of people.

Two lines: Role Model and Martyr

The conscious line of the Personality Sun is the Role Model. The person strives for authenticity, looks at life from the outside and over the years feels more and more like someone others take their bearings from. According to the system, the sixth line goes through three stages: trials, observation, example.

The unconscious line of the Design Sun is the Martyr. It learns through trial and error and doesn't stop doing so with age. The sixth and third lines are harmonic, and the first stage of the sixth line itself resembles the third, so in youth a 6/3 has an especially large number of trials.

In life, relationships and work

  • In life. A 6/3 is believed to go through many changes — in work, places, relationships. The system suggests not seeing this as instability: experience accumulates, and over time it adds up to a position of their own.
  • In relationships. According to the system, they go through breakups and new attempts until they find a stable bond. What matters to them is a partner who understands that change is part of their path, not a sign of being unserious.
  • At work. The profile is described as someone with rich practical experience and a sober outlook. They suit work where the ability to try new things is valued and where the experience of mistakes becomes knowledge for others.

Left Angle Cross

6/3 belongs to the Left Angle along with 5/1, 5/2 and 6/2; together they account for about 34% of people. According to the system, a Left Angle Cross is transpersonal karma: the path unfolds through encounters with particular people that change both sides. In a 6/3, trials and clashes happen above all in such encounters. An example of such a cross in a chart is the “Left Angle Cross of the Spirit”: its theme comes from the gates of the Personality and Design Sun and Earth, while the profile only sets the angle. The three stages of the sixth line

According to the system, the sixth line lives in three stages. Until about age 30 it behaves like the third: it tries and makes mistakes. From 30 to 50 comes the period “on the roof”: the person steps aside, observes and reflects on what they have lived through. After 50 they “come down off the roof” and live as an example for others. The system links the boundaries of these stages to the Saturn and Chiron returns.

In a 6/3 the sixth line is conscious, and the third is always close by, so the boundaries between stages are blurred: according to the system, life keeps throwing trials their way both after 30 and after 50.

Harmonic lines

The system considers the line pairs 1–4, 2–5 and 3–6 harmonic. For a 6/3 these are the third line (the pair to the sixth) and the sixth (the pair to the third). In other words, the profile's lines are harmonic with each other — this is how all six rare profiles are built. The 3/6 profile has the same lines in reverse order; we call it the mirror profile. Harmonic and shared lines are believed to ease mutual understanding, but they make a couple neither good nor bad. The system examines the relationship as a whole in Human Design compatibility.

How to read this

This is a description of the 6/3 profile according to the rules of the system, not an established fact: there is no research linking the line of the Sun to character or destiny. According to the system, the profile is read after Type, Strategy and Authority. You can calculate your own chart with the Human Design calculator, and the other profiles are described in the profiles overview.
