About
Calcumancy is a reference guide to calculable divination and astrology methods. We collect the ones that follow rules and can be computed, and we show the calculation openly.
What we do
The site has 1738 pages and 64 working calculators. We cover methods that have a coherent internal logic: numerological reductions, zodiac cycles, lunar and solar calendars, and the combinatorics of cards, dice and coins.
Every page follows the same structure: first the calculation, then an explanation of where it comes from, then the interpretation, and finally an honest section on what is known about the method.
Our approach
Accurate calculations. If a method is defined by rules, we follow those rules to the letter. We take the boundary of the Chinese year from Lichun, not January 1; we calculate the flight of the feng shui stars in Lo Shu order; and we date the Tzolkin using the GMT correlation 584283. Where schools disagree, we state which variant we use and why.
Honesty about the method. We don't call new things ancient, and we don't credit methods with evidence they don't have. If a theory has been tested and not confirmed, its page says so.
No promises. We don't predict the dates of events, we don't give medical, financial or legal advice, and we don't offer to lift curses.
Privacy. Calculations run in your browser. Your birth date and name never leave your device.
What you won't find here
Paid consultations, personal readings, "negative energy removal," amulets, or advice to buy a gemstone to fix your fate.
A daily horoscope by zodiac sign: it can't be written honestly, as explained in detail on a separate page.
Predictions of specific events and dates. No method can do that.
How to reach us
If you find an error in a calculation or a method description, write to us — we'll fix it and note exactly what changed. Contact details are on a separate page.
We especially value feedback from people who practice the methods described: we try to note the differences between schools, but we surely don't know them all.
