Authors and Experts

Who makes Calcumancy and what sources the site's content is based on.

Editorial team

The site's content is prepared by the project's editorial team. The texts are written from primary sources and reference literature, and the calculation sections from descriptions of the methods, checked against test examples that are shown right on the pages.

We don't publish content in the name of fictional "hereditary experts," and we don't attribute texts to people who don't exist. If a page describes a method, it means we have studied its rules, not its advertising.

What we rely on

Primary sources of the tradition. The Book of Changes in academic translations, the rune poems, classical texts on feng shui and Jyotish, William Lilly's works on horary astrology, and texts on geomancy from Agrippa to modern editions.

Historical literature. Data on the origins of the methods: when the Lenormand deck appeared, who created the Destiny Matrix, when Uranus, Neptune and Pluto entered astrology, where the theory of biorhythms came from.

Scientific studies that put these methods to the test. Research on the accuracy of astrology, work on biorhythms, statistics on marriages by zodiac sign. The key ones are listed on the page about our calculations.

Astronomical data. Moon phase formulas, sun sign boundaries, Maya calendar correlations.

Expertise and responsibility

We are not doctors, lawyers or financial advisers, and we give no advice in those areas. Whenever a page touches on health, money or law, we say plainly that the decision should be made with a professional.

We also don't offer personal consultations or take on interpreting a reader's specific situation: the site provides tools and descriptions, and people make their own decisions.

Corrections

If you find a mistake — in a formula, a date or a description of a tradition — write to us via the contact page. We'll check it and fix it, and where the matter is disputed we'll present both points of view on the page.

Corrections from practitioners are especially valuable: in feng shui, Jyotish and BaZi the differences between schools are large, and we try to state which version we use.
