Transits: your forecast for the month and year
Transits are the current positions of the planets laid over your birth chart. They are the main way astrology talks about time: not "what kind of person you are" but "what is happening now". The calculator finds all the important transits for the year ahead with dates, shows which houses Jupiter and Saturn are moving through and breaks down the chosen month day by day.
You need your date and place of birth; the time is recommended — without it the houses and axes cannot be calculated and the Moon's position is approximate. The month and year are where the forecast starts, the current ones by default: long transits are calculated for 12 months ahead, fast ones for the chosen month. Latitude, longitude and UTC offset are needed only if the place is not found in the search.
How It Works
The planets keep moving after you are born. When a transiting planet forms an aspect to a natal point — a conjunction, sextile, square, trine or opposition — astrology considers that period significant, and the theme is defined by both planets: the transiting one says what is happening, the natal one says what it concerns.
Speed determines duration: a transit of the Sun lasts days, of Jupiter weeks, of Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto months, with repeats due to retrograde motion. That is why the main themes of the year are set by the slow planets, and the fast ones set the mood of individual days.
Well-known transits by age
Some transits happen to everyone at roughly the same age, because they depend only on the planet's orbital period.
How to Read the Result
Main transits for 12 months. A list of slow transits with their period of influence and the dates of exact aspects; those in effect now are marked. A green dot is a harmonious transit, a red one a challenging transit.
Slow planets in your houses. Jupiter shows where growth and luck are now, Saturn where work and patience are needed; Uranus, Neptune and Pluto form a long background lasting years.
Transits of the month. Exact aspects of the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars to your planets by date, the New Moon and Full Moon in your houses, retrograde periods and key days when several transits coincide.
An Honest Look at the Method
Transit astrology has no confirmed predictive power: studies comparing transits with real events have found no systematic links. We calculate planetary positions with astronomical precision (checked against the Swiss Ephemeris), and we write the interpretations as a description of the tradition, not as knowledge of your future. The practice does have a useful side: regularly asking yourself what is happening in your life right now is productive in itself.
Frequently asked questions
Which transits matter most?
Transits of the slow planets — Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, as well as Jupiter — to the Sun, Moon, Ascendant and MC. They last for months and set the main themes. Transits of the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars last for days and colour individual events.
Why does one transit repeat several times?
Because of retrograde motion: the planet passes the exact degree going forward, then backward, then forward again. So a transit of Saturn or Pluto can become exact up to three times a year — the calculator shows all the dates.
Can I do it without a birth time?
Yes, but only partly: transits to the planets will be calculated, but the houses, Ascendant and MC will not. The Moon moves about 13° a day, so without a birth time the dates of transits to it may shift.
What is a Saturn return?
Saturn travels around the zodiac in about 29.5 years and returns to its natal position at around ages 29 and 58. Traditionally these are milestones of maturing and taking stock; the calculator marks such cycles — Jupiter returns and oppositions, Saturn squares and opposition, the Uranus opposition and others.
