Sagittarius
Sagittarius is the zodiac sign for people born between November 22 and December 21. Element: fire; modality: mutable; ruling planet: Jupiter. The cusp dates shift by a day from year to year, so if you were born near a cusp, check your sign with the calculator.
Personality
Sagittarius is the sign of expansion and meaning. Sagittarians need a goal beyond the horizon, movement and freedom; they tolerate confined spaces and petty control worse than any other sign.
Strengths: optimism, honesty, broad-mindedness, the ability to rally people around an idea and stay upbeat after a failure.
Weaknesses: tactlessness and unreliability. Sagittarians tell the blunt truth without noticing that it hurts, and easily promise more than they'll deliver.
The Gemini man and woman
The Sagittarius man is spontaneous and easily carried away; what he fears is not relationships but losing his freedom in them.
The Sagittarius woman is independent and direct; she needs her own plans and her own space.
Career and money
Work involving travel, learning and big ideas suits them: teaching, tourism, international projects, law, publishing, sports.
Sagittarians spend money generously and optimistically, often on travel and education. Saving bores them.
Compatibility
Traditionally, the easiest matches are signs of the same element and of compatible elements; for Sagittarius these are Aries, Leo, Libra and Aquarius.
The most challenging are signs in square and in adjacent positions: Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces. The opposite sign is Gemini: strong attraction and an equally strong struggle.
These are general rules of aspects, not a verdict. Each pair is covered separately in zodiac compatibility.
The sign in the birth chart
Your Sun sign is just the position of the Sun at the moment of birth. A full birth chart also includes the sign of the Moon (emotions), the Ascendant (first impression) and the positions of the other planets.
That's why a person may "not seem like an Aries": they have an Aries Sun, a Cancer Moon and a Libra Ascendant, and what comes across is nothing like a Martian manner. Horoscopes in the media work only with the Sun sign, hence the feeling that they aren't about you.
