Taurus Ascendant
The Taurus Ascendant is the rising sign that describes your appearance, your manner and the first impression you make. Element: earth; modality: fixed; chart ruler: Venus.
Appearance and manner
A Taurus Ascendant gives a calm, solid, "dependable" appearance: soft features, a pleasant voice, a strong neck and unhurried movements. Many people with this Ascendant have a classic, physical beauty and look good in natural fabrics and warm tones.
You approach anything new carefully: first you take a look, test it by touch and only then agree. You need things to be comfortable, tasty and safe. You resist changes imposed from outside — but you see through to the end whatever you have chosen yourself.
How others see you
People see you as steady and dependable: it is calm around you, you do not fuss and do not promise too much. Sometimes you are seen as stubborn and slow. Trust in you grows slowly but lasts a long time.
Strengths and traps
Your strength is endurance, practicality and taste: you know how to preserve, save and make things beautiful. The trap is inertia: clinging to the familiar even when it no longer warms you, and mistaking calm for standing still.
Chart ruler
The ruler of the Ascendant is Venus. Its sign and house show where you seek pleasure, beauty and value, and what is truly precious to you. Venus in Taurus or Libra enhances the Ascendant's charm; in Scorpio or Aries it adds passion and impulsiveness.
The house where the ruler sits is the area of life through which the Ascendant expresses itself: in the 2nd house it is money, in the 7th partnership, in the 10th career. The Ascendant calculator will show where yours is.
Descendant in Scorpio
Descendant in Scorpio: you are drawn to strong, deep, sometimes dangerous people who shake up your calm world. Relationships teach you to let go and to change.
How to make the most of your Ascendant
A Taurus Ascendant thrives on the body and the senses: good food, working with your hands, gardening, music, walks. When life demands change, it helps to change things in small steps — that way resistance does not kick in.
The Ascendant is not the whole person. It blends with your Sun sign and your Moon sign: a Taurus Ascendant with the Sun in a water sign, for example, will be softer, and with the Sun in a fire sign, brighter. The description above is the base on which the other planets are layered.
Find your Ascendant
The Ascendant depends on your exact time and place of birth: on average it changes sign every two hours. You can check whether yours really is in Taurus with the Ascendant calculator.
