Taurus
Taurus is the zodiac sign for people born between April 20 and May 20. Element: earth; modality: fixed; ruling planet: Venus. The cusp dates shift by a day from year to year, so if you were born near a cusp, check your sign with the calculator.
Personality
Taurus is the sign of stability and physical pleasure. Taureans build slowly, but what they build lasts. For Taurus, comfort isn't a whim but a way of life: good food, dependable things, a calm pace.
Strengths: patience, reliability, practicality, taste. Taureans see things through and don't quit halfway.
Weaknesses: stubbornness and inertia. Taureans are slow to embrace change and can put up for years with things that should have been changed long ago.
The Gemini man and woman
The Taurus man is solid, calm and good with the practical side of life; he is more jealous than he lets on.
The Taurus woman is sensual and practical; she creates coziness around her and values material security without any embarrassment.
Career and money
Work that values quality and consistency suits them: finance, real estate, agriculture, cooking, crafts, anything involving beautiful, tangible things.
Taureans handle money better than any other sign: they save, invest in safe assets and don't fall for get-rich-quick schemes.
Compatibility
Traditionally, the easiest matches are signs of the same element and of compatible elements; for Taurus these are Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces.
The most challenging are signs in square and in adjacent positions: Aries, Gemini, Leo and Aquarius. The opposite sign is Scorpio: strong attraction and an equally strong struggle.
These are general rules of aspects, not a verdict. Each pair is covered separately in zodiac compatibility.
The sign in the birth chart
Your Sun sign is just the position of the Sun at the moment of birth. A full birth chart also includes the sign of the Moon (emotions), the Ascendant (first impression) and the positions of the other planets.
That's why a person may "not seem like an Aries": they have an Aries Sun, a Cancer Moon and a Libra Ascendant, and what comes across is nothing like a Martian manner. Horoscopes in the media work only with the Sun sign, hence the feeling that they aren't about you.
