6/2 Profile: Role Model/Hermit
The 6/2 profile is a conscious Role Model and an unconscious Hermit: three stages of life and a talent that others notice. About 14% of people have it.
Two lines: Role Model and Hermit
The line of the Personality Sun is the sixth, the Role Model. Consciously, the person strives for authenticity and looks at life as if from the outside, from above. According to the system, they go through three stages, and with age their view becomes more objective and their example more convincing.
The line of the Design Sun is the second, the Hermit. Unconsciously, they have natural abilities that others notice, even when they keep to themselves. Together this makes a reserved person: the sixth line observes, the second withdraws, and yet people are still drawn to them and call on them to step forward. Detachment here, according to the system, is not coldness but a way to keep a clear view.
In life, relationships and work
- In life. A 6/2's first 30 years are believed to pass in trial and error, followed by a period of solitude and observation, and after 50 they become an example for others. It is important for them not to rush these stages.
- In relationships. According to the system, they seek authenticity and high standards, and value a partner for being able to respect their space. Disappointments in youth are considered part of the first stage.
- At work. The profile is described as someone whose abilities are visible from the outside and who is invited for their perspective and experience. Over time they often become an advisor whom people listen to.
Left Angle Cross
6/2 belongs to the Left Angle along with 5/1, 5/2 and 6/3; together they account for about 34% of people. According to the system, a Left Angle Cross is transpersonal karma: the path unfolds through encounters with particular people that change both sides. For a 6/2, such encounters are with people who notice their talent and example. An example of such a cross in a chart is the “Left Angle Cross of Industry”: its theme comes from the gates of the Personality and Design Sun and Earth, while the profile only sets the angle. The three stages of the sixth line
According to the system, the sixth line lives in three stages. Until about age 30 it behaves like the third: it tries and makes mistakes. From 30 to 50 comes the period “on the roof”: the person steps aside, observes and reflects on what they have lived through. After 50 they “come down off the roof” and live as an example for others. The system links the boundaries of these stages to the Saturn and Chiron returns.
In a 6/2 the sixth line is conscious: the person clearly senses the change of stages, and the unconscious second line makes the period “on the roof” especially solitary.
Harmonic lines
The system considers the line pairs 1–4, 2–5 and 3–6 harmonic. For a 6/2 these are the third line (the pair to the sixth) and the fifth (the pair to the second). The 3/5 profile has both at once, in the same order; we call it the mirror profile. Harmonic and shared lines are believed to ease mutual understanding, but they make a couple neither good nor bad. The system examines the relationship as a whole in Human Design compatibility.
How to read this
This is a description of the 6/2 profile according to the rules of the system, not an established fact: there is no research linking the line of the Sun to character or destiny. According to the system, the profile is read after Type, Strategy and Authority. You can calculate your own chart with the Human Design calculator, and the other profiles are described in the profiles overview.

Frequently asked questions
What does the 6/2 profile mean in Human Design?
It is a conscious sixth line, the Role Model, and an unconscious second, the Hermit. According to the system, such a person goes through three stages of life, and others notice their natural abilities and call on them to show them.
What does “on the roof” mean for a 6/2 profile?
That is what the system calls the second stage of the sixth line, roughly from 30 to 50: the person steps back from active trial and error, observes and reflects on experience. In a 6/2 this period is amplified by the second line, which needs solitude anyway.
Which profile is harmonic with 6/2?
Its mirror, 3/5: the third line is harmonic with the sixth, the fifth with the second. This is a concept of the system itself, not a relationship forecast.
