Aquarius Ascendant
The Aquarius Ascendant is the rising sign that describes your appearance, your manner and the first impression you make. Element: air; modality: fixed; chart ruler: Saturn (modern ruler: Uranus).
Appearance and manner
An Aquarius Ascendant gives an unusual, memorable appearance: a high forehead, an open, "detached" gaze and striking details in clothing or hairstyle. These people look a little otherworldly and stand out from the crowd effortlessly.
You approach anything new as an explorer: how could this be done differently, better, more fairly? Freedom and like-minded people matter to you. Pressure and demands to be "like everyone else" make you rebel.
How others see you
People see you as an original: friendly, independent, full of unexpected ideas. You are on good terms with everyone but let few people get close. Sometimes you are seen as cold, stubborn or eccentric.
Strengths and traps
Your strength is independent thinking, friendliness and the ability to see the future. You make an excellent inventor, programmer, scientist or community organiser. The trap is emotional detachment and rebelling for the sake of rebelling.
Chart ruler
The traditional ruler of the Ascendant is Saturn; the modern one is Uranus. Saturn shows where you build systems and carry responsibility; Uranus shows where you need freedom, experiment and sudden change. Read the sign and house of both.
The house where the ruler sits is the area of life through which the Ascendant expresses itself: in the 2nd house it is money, in the 7th partnership, in the 10th career. The Ascendant calculator will show where yours is.
Descendant in Leo
Descendant in Leo: you are drawn to warm, vivid, creative people who are not afraid to be the centre of attention. Relationships teach you to open your heart and show your feelings.
How to make the most of your Ascendant
An Aquarius Ascendant thrives on teams and ideas bigger than yourself: communities, projects, technology. It helps to notice when independence turns into loneliness, and sometimes to allow yourself to need people.
The Ascendant is not the whole person. It blends with your Sun sign and your Moon sign: an Aquarius Ascendant with the Sun in a water sign, for example, will be softer, and with the Sun in a fire sign, brighter. The description above is the base on which the other planets are layered.
Find your Ascendant
The Ascendant depends on your exact time and place of birth: on average it changes sign every two hours. You can check whether yours really is in Aquarius with the Ascendant calculator.
