Saturn
Saturn governs limitation, discipline and time: things that come through hard work and not a moment sooner.
Governs
Saturn describes the area where a person meets resistance and where they build structure. In the tradition it is the "greater malefic"; in modern astrology it is the "teacher," a planet that doesn't give quickly but gives reliably.
Saturn is associated with duties, boundaries, elders, the law, bones and teeth in body symbolism, and also with fear.
Its cycle is about 29.5 years.
In the signs and houses
By sign, Saturn shows where a person feels constrained and where they become a master: in Capricorn, in work and status; in Pisces, in feelings and faith.
By house, it shows where a person has to endure and build: in the seventh, in partnership; in the second, in money; in the tenth, in career.
Strong and weak placements
Domicile: Capricorn and Aquarius; exaltation: Libra. Detriment: Cancer and Leo; fall: Aries.
The best-known theme is the "Saturn return" around age 29–30, when the planet returns to its natal position. Astrology describes it as a crisis of growing up. It's worth noting that this age is a typical point of reassessment anyway, with marriage, children and career changes, so the coincidence can be explained without astrology.
