Couple Compatibility by BaZi
BaZi compatibility compares not the year signs but the full charts of two people: their Day Masters, spouse palaces and all the connections between their pillars. The calculator shows these connections and explains what each one traditionally means.
If the time is unknown, clear the field: the hour pillar will not be counted. Names are used only to label the result and are never sent anywhere.
What the calculator compares
- Day Masters, the key stems of the two charts: how their elements are linked by generation or control, and what role the partner's Day Master plays in your chart in the system of the Ten Gods.
- Spouse palaces, the day branches. Tradition treats a combination, clash, harm or punishment between them as the main indicator of married life.
- Spouse stars: for a man, his wife is his “Wealth”; for a woman, her husband is her “Officer.” The calculator checks whether the partner's Day Master matches that star.
- Year branches: the familiar Chinese zodiac compatibility, but with the year starting at Lichun.
- All connections between the pillars of the two charts: stem combinations and clashes, Six Harmonies, Three Harmony combinations, and branch clashes, harms and punishments.
- Useful elements for each other: the calculator works out each person's Day Master strength and useful element and checks whether the partner brings it.
- Elements: which element is missing in one chart and abundant in the other — what the partners give each other.

For work and business, there is BaZi business compatibility (partners, manager and employee, colleagues), and for a team or family of three to six people, group compatibility.
Why there is no overall score
Many sites add the connections up into a compatibility percentage. We don't: the classical texts have no formula saying a combination is worth so much and a clash so much. One practitioner may consider a single clash between the day branches more important than three combinations of the outer pillars, and another may think the opposite.
So the calculator shows the connections themselves, marks which of them involve the day pillar — the most personal part of the chart — and briefly explains each one according to tradition. The final judgment comes from all the layers together: from both charts as a whole and their Luck Pillars.
How the charts are built
Both charts are calculated with the same engine as the BaZi calculator: the year from Lichun, the month from the jie solar terms, a true solar time correction for the longitude of the birthplace, and historical time zones from the browser's database. The settings for solar time, the Rat hour and the calendar apply to both charts at once, so that the comparison is fair.

An Honest Look at the Method
BaZi compatibility is the most detailed of the traditional ways to compare two people, but it too lacks verifiable evidence. It is a reason to talk about how you are alike and where you argue, not a verdict on the relationship. Decisions about marriage and family are made by people, not charts.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know both birth times?
It helps, but it is not required. Without a time, the chart is built from three pillars, and the hour pillar's connections are not counted. The Day Masters and spouse palaces do not depend on the time — unless a person was born around midnight.
Why do the year signs match but the connections differ?
The year sign is just one branch out of the eight characters of a chart. BaZi compares both the stems and the branches of all four pillars, so couples with the same combination of year signs can turn out completely different.
Does the calculator work for same-sex couples and for friends?
Yes. Day Masters, spouse palaces and the connections between pillars are calculated for any pair. The classics defined the “Spouse Stars” section only for a man and a woman, so it is not shown for other pairs.
