Gate 15: Extremes

Gate 15, “Extremes”, is a gate of the G Center. Below you will find what it means in the Human Design system, its six lines, the channel it belongs to, and when the Sun passes through it. The chart calculator will show whether you have it.

Meaning of Gate 15

A G Center gate tied to love of humanity and a wide range of life rhythms. It gives acceptance of different people and ways of life; your own rhythm may be irregular, and this is considered normal.

In the system, a gate is always at work if it is active in the chart — at the moment of birth (Personality) or about 88 days before it (Design). If the other gate of its channel is also active, the channel is defined, and the theme of the gate becomes part of the person’s consistent energy.

Where the Gate Sits

  • Center: G Center.
  • I Ching hexagram: Hexagram 15, Qian.
  • Position on the wheel: from 28°15′ Gemini to 3°52′30″ Cancer.
  • The Sun in Gate 15: roughly June 19 to 25 (the dates shift by a day in some years).
  • Neighbors on the wheel: before it, gate 12; after it, gate 52.

The Six Lines of Gate 15

Each gate is divided into six lines. The line specifies how the theme of the gate shows up in a particular person; in a chart it is written after a dot — for example, 15.4.

  • Line 1: Quiet Modesty. The person doesn't put their knowledge or their kindness toward people on display, and this gives them firm footing. Big tasks come easier to them when they have studied well whom and what they are dealing with.
  • Line 2: Natural Acceptance. This person's acceptance of different people shows by itself, without effort, and others feel it. They need time to themselves, and their breadth is most often noticed first from the outside.
  • Line 3: Merit Without Pride. The person does a lot for others and learns from experience not to demand recognition for it. The difficulty is not swinging from one extreme to the other: total self-giving one moment, resentment over unnoticed work the next.
  • Line 4: Modesty in Action. The person doesn't hide behind their modesty but acts, while staying attentive to the people around them. A varied circle of acquaintances is thought to help them find their place among different rhythms of life.
  • Line 5: Gentle, Not Weak. Others get used to this person's gentleness and readiness to yield, but at the right moment they can act firmly. Their strength lies in combining respect for others with decisiveness when the common cause calls for it.
  • Line 6: Order Begins at Home. Over time the person comes to see that order is worth bringing first of all to their own life. An honest look at their own extremes, instead of reproaching others, affects people more strongly than advice.

Channels

Gate 15 is one half of a channel. A channel is defined when both of its gates are active — in one person or, in a couple, across the two partners.

  • Channel 5-15, “Rhythm” — its other gate is 5, “Fixed Rhythms”, in the Sacral Center. The channel gives a steady rhythm of your own in work, sleep and habits. A person with it is thought to do best by not breaking this rhythm to fit someone else's schedule — then they feel in the flow.

All the channels are on the channels page, and Human Design compatibility shows what arises between the charts of two people.

An Honest Look at the Method

Human Design was created in 1987 by one man, Ra Uru Hu, and its claims have never been scientifically tested. We describe the rules of the system as they are and write the interpretations in our own words, not as knowledge about you.
