Gate 60 — Acceptance

Gate 60, “Acceptance,” is a Root Center gate. Below: what it means according to the Human Design system, its six lines, the channel it belongs to and when the Sun passes through it. The chart calculator will show whether you have it.

Meaning of Gate 60

A Root Center gate tied to accepting limitations. It gives the ability to work within what there is and wait for the right moment for change; the trap is fighting against circumstances.

In the system, a gate is always at work if it is active in the chart — at the moment of birth (Personality) or about 88 days before it (Design). If the other gate of its channel is also active, the channel is defined, and the theme of the gate becomes part of the person’s consistent energy.

Where the Gate Sits

  • Center: Root Center.
  • I Ching hexagram: hexagram 60, Jie.
  • Position on the wheel: from 26°22′30″ Capricorn to 2°00′ Aquarius.
  • The Sun in Gate 60: roughly from January 16 to 22 (the dates shift by a day from year to year).
  • Neighbors on the wheel: Gate 61 comes before it, Gate 41 after it.

The Six Lines of Gate 60

Each gate is divided into six lines. The line shows how the gate's theme plays out in a particular person; in the chart it is written after the dot — for example, 60.4.

  • Line 1: Not Stepping Past the Threshold. The first line senses when conditions aren't ripe yet and stays within the familiar. In the system, its strength lies in studying the limits before trying to shift them; the trap is mistaking caution for an inability to change anything.
  • Line 2: When the Gate Is Open. The second line is used to waiting, and it can easily miss the moment when the restrictions have already been lifted. It is thought important for it to listen to those calling it out: a way out put off too long loses its meaning.
  • Line 3: A Lesson Without Measure. The third line tests the limits and runs into consequences when it oversteps them. In the system, this is a normal path: mistakes show where a limit is reasonable, and it learns to set its own measure.
  • Line 4: Comfortable Limits. The fourth line finds a natural order in limitations and builds its life within it together with those close to it. Acceptance comes easily to it when the limits are shared and clear; the risk is holding on to them when the time for change has already come.
  • Line 5: Gentle Discipline. The fifth line is expected to set reasonable rules for others. In the system, it is trusted if it is the first to keep its own limits and demands no more than it does itself; the trap is imposing limits that crush.
  • Line 6: Bitter Strictness. The sixth line knows that rules that are too rigid eventually break those who follow them. Its example is thought to be fitting strictness: sometimes rigor is justified, but it is not worth holding on to it longer than needed.

Channels

Gate 60 is one half of a channel. A channel is defined when both of its gates are active — in one person or, in a couple, across two people.

  • Channel 3-60 “Mutation” — the partner gate is 3 “Ordering” in the Sacral Center. The channel gives an energy of change that comes in pulses rather than according to plan. In the system, periods of quiet are normal here: the new matures inside and shows itself when its time comes.

All the channels are on the channels page, and Human Design compatibility shows what arises between the charts of two people.

An Honest Look at the Method
