Ansuz
Ansuz is the fourth rune, sound “a.” Literally “As,” a god; it is associated with Odin and with speech.
Upright Position
Word, knowledge, message. Ansuz says the information you need is on its way: advice, a letter, a conversation that puts everything in its place. This is the rune of the teacher and of learning — it points to a person worth asking and to a good moment for a speech, an exam, or negotiations.
Reversed Position
Lies, misunderstanding, bad advice. A reversed Ansuz warns that you are not being told everything, or are being told untruths, and also that your words will be misinterpreted. A bad rune for an important conversation.
In love and at work
In relationships, the upright rune means an honest conversation and understanding; reversed, it means silence and manipulation through words. At work — negotiations, training, public speaking, expert review.
The rune’s advice
Ask, listen, reach agreement in words. Check your information and phrase your thoughts so that they cannot be misunderstood.
