Tiwaz

Tiwaz is the seventeenth rune, sound “t.” Literally the name of the god Tyr — the one who sacrificed his hand for the common order.

Upright Position

A just victory that has been paid for. Tiwaz means an outcome in your favor if you are in the right and ready to bear the costs: a court case, a dispute, a competition. The rune is linked to honor, one’s word, and masculine resolve; it demands straightforwardness and dislikes calculation.

Reversed Position

A lost dispute, an unfair decision, energy drained in the struggle. A reversed Tiwaz warns that you are either in the wrong, or in the right but have chosen the wrong way to prove it. Sometimes — betrayal or a broken promise.

In love and at work

In relationships, the upright rune means faithfulness and willingness to stand by your words; reversed, a breakup, accusations, dashed expectations. At work — a court case, a contest, competition, defending your position.

The rune’s advice

Stand up for your position directly and honestly if you are sure you are right. Be prepared to pay for victory, and keep your word.
