Othala
Othala is the twenty-fourth and last rune of the Futhark, sound “o.” Literally “heritage,” “ancestral land.”
Upright Position
What belongs to you by right: home, family, inheritance, accumulated property, origins. Othala speaks of a solid foundation and the support of your kin, as well as the need to manage what you have received. In questions about real estate and family matters, it is the key rune.
Reversed Position
A dispute over an inheritance, a break with the family, losing your home or roots. A reversed Othala warns against clinging to the old: what used to be a support has become a burden.
In love and at work
In relationships, the upright rune means family, home, acceptance by relatives; reversed, conflict with relatives and an unwillingness to let go of the past. At work — property, a family business, a stable position, housing matters.
