Hexagram 36, Ming Yi: “Darkening of the Light,” “Eclipse.” It is about a hostile environment where being visible is dangerous.

Below is the Li trigram (fire), above is Kun (earth). Earth over fire: the sun has sunk below the ground — the light is hidden, but not put out.
General meaning
The answer: protect yourself and don’t show everything. Ming Yi describes a situation where your surroundings are unfair or simply not on your side, and open confrontation will lead to loss. The classic advice is to hide your light, not give it up: keep going inwardly without standing out outwardly.
In love and at work
In relationships: circumstances in which feelings have to be hidden, or a relationship in which you are not acknowledged. At work: toxic management, intrigue, an environment where initiative is punished. For a public move, the answer is no.
What to do
Work quietly and don’t argue with your circumstances. Keeping your clarity matters more than proving you are right.
