24

Hexagram 24, Fu — “Return.” A turning point: winter turns to spring, decline turns to rise.

The image of the hexagram

Below is the trigram Zhen (thunder), above is Kun (earth). Thunder beneath the earth: movement is stirring in the depths — the first yang line after complete darkness.

General meaning

The answer is favorable, but the beginning is barely noticeable. Fu speaks of return — of strength, of a person, of clarity, of a former interest. The classical text emphasizes that the return comes in its own time, “on the seventh day,” and should be neither hurried nor feared. The first shoot is weak, and protecting it matters more than loading it down.

In love and at work

In relationships — renewing a connection, reconciliation, returning to what you had drifted away from; a good sign as long as you don't demand the old depth right away. At work — going back to a postponed project, recovering after a failure, a second attempt. For a large-scale step it's still too early.

What to do

Start again, on a small scale. The main thing now is not to derail the first movement by overloading it.
