Conjunctio
Conjunctio (Conjunction) — Air and Water are active, Fire and Earth are at rest. It stands for a meeting, a union, and the joining of what was separate.
Structure of the figure
Latin name: Conjunctio. Traditional ruler: Mercury.
| Line | Points | Element of the line |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | two | Fire |
| 2 | one | Air |
| 3 | one | Water |
| 4 | two | Earth |
Active (single-point) lines: 2 of 4. The more there are, the more mobile the figure: a single point means an active element, a double point a resting one.
Meaning
The figure is neutral in terms of favorability but almost always significant: it indicates that two people or two lines of events are converging in the matter. In any question, Conjunctio answers “yes, but together with someone else.”
The second meaning is exchange and agreement. The figure looks the same read top to bottom and bottom to top, and tradition sees in this the symmetry of a deal: both sides on an equal footing.
In questions about love and money
In love — a meeting, the start of a relationship, reconciliation; one of the best figures for a question about getting closer. In money — a partnership, a deal, pooling resources. Timing — the near future, tied to a meeting.
