Bear in Wax Reading
Strength, a patron or a trial. This is an ambiguous sign: its meaning is decided by its place and the neighboring shapes.
Core Meaning
A bear means great strength. It may be a powerful patron, a strong boss or a hard trial that will take all your endurance. In the Western tradition the bear also warns against rash decisions.
In the wax. In Yuletide wax reading, a bear means matchmaking and a master in the house.
In Love and Business
In love. A strong, protective partner with a difficult temper.
In business and money. An influential boss; don't confront them head-on.
What It Looks Like in Wax
- Large shape: the theme will become important in the near future; whether for good or ill, the neighboring shapes will tell.
- Small shape: a secondary matter or a brief episode.
- In the shadow on the wall: something still hidden that will come out later.
- Clarity: clear outlines are a sure sign; blurred ones mean the event may still change. If the wax set in fragments, each fragment is read as a separate shape.
In Combinations
This shape has no established traditional pairs: it's read by its place in the wax and by the mood of the neighboring signs. Next to light shapes its meaning softens; next to heavy ones it becomes sterner.
