Elephant in Coffee Grounds
Luck and a patron. This is a light sign: it promises good things and softens heavy shapes nearby.
Core Meaning
An elephant means strength, wisdom and luck. An influential patron or an older friend is nearby. In Turkish coffee reading, the elephant (fil) is a sign of lasting prosperity; a raised trunk means great luck.
In Love and Business
In love. A reliable, wise partner; a lasting union.
In business and money. Patronage from an influential person, a big stroke of luck.
Where It Lies in the Cup
- Near the handle: the sign concerns your own life and home: luck and a patron are close to you. This is the surest and nearest position.
- Opposite the handle: this will come through other people, from far away or from outside.
- To the right or left of the handle: on the right, the sign is coming into your life and gaining strength; on the left, the good has already been, and its time is passing.
- At the rim and on the sides: at the rim, the event is on the doorstep — days and weeks; on the sides, the coming months.
- On the bottom: the good is already built into the foundation of the situation: this is support from the past that you can count on.
- Clarity: a clear, large shape is a sure and important sign; a blurry one means the event may still pass you by. Dots around a shape link its meaning to money.
In Combinations
This shape has no established traditional pairs: it's read by its place in the cup and by the mood of the neighboring signs. Next to light shapes its meaning softens; next to heavy ones it becomes sterner.
